Genine Patrick

Genine Patrick is the owner of Pilates Body Studio.

“I qualified with Body Control Pilates in April 2004, at the time I was a full time legal secretary and my intention was to teach Pilates as a hobby every Saturday. As a legal secretary based in an office at a desk I had terrible posture and lots of back pain. I was travelling in Australia when I was introduced to Pilates which helped me gain a better posture and reduced my back pain dramatically. I was so passionate about the effect this had on my life I now teach matwork and equipment Pilates full time. Since taking up Pilates I have been able to run the London marathon and cycle the London to Brighton bike ride, without pilates my back would not have allowed me to do this.

In 2009 I became a ‘Supervising Teacher‘ for Body Control Pilates; an international body set up to safeguard the standards and quality of Pilates teaching. I mentor students and help them become qualified in matwork and equipment tuition. I am also part of Body Control Pilates Education Team responsible for the training of teachers and students in the Pilates Method on the various courses they provide.

I am also a level 4 ‘Back for Good‘ instructor meaning I specialise in helping people with back pain. I will help you manage your pain by learning exercises that are suitable for your back when you are suffering. Not all pain is harmful, understanding your pain will help you recover quicker, rather than resting which will only prolong the healing process.

I am very passionate about Pilates and helping others, it has changed my life and I know it can help you”

Liz Sadzik

I discovered Pilates 9 years ago, while training as a classical pianist at a conservatoire of music. Long hours of practice and prolonged periods of sitting had taken their toll, and I was suffering from rounded shoulders, tension in my neck and back and headaches.

After starting to attend just one Pilates class for an hour a week, I quickly noticed that fundamental changes to my body were taking shape – my posture improved, I became leaner, more toned and most importantly I felt great! I am passionate about the amazing results Pilates can achieve, and now teach Pilates in conjunction with my freelance musical career.

I have completed the Body Control Pilates matwork and pregnancy courses, am a member of the Body Control Pilates Association and am on the Register of Exercise Professionals (Level 3).

Lucy Merriman

I discovered Pilates 18 years ago through personal experience of severe back pain.  Pilates became part of my weekly routine and before long I no longer needed the pain killers.  I felt the benefits which fuelled my passion for this type of exercise and led me to study to become a Body Control Pilates teacher so I could help others feel the benefits too.  I love helping people to relax, stretch and strengthen their bodies.  I’m passionate to keep learning and developing as a teacher.  Working with my clients to help them progress and to feel the best they can and have fun whilst doing so.

Sam Fraser

I’m a qualified Level 3 Body Control teacher.I got into Pilates due to a back issue, loved the results so much that I decided to train & become a teacher.

I love to teach & help others, whether its for health & fitness, help with an injury or just to feel good.

I like to take regular classes to keep my body toned, strong & flexible.

My passion for Pilates continues to grow & I love the strength & focus it brings.

Sara Anderton

I have a background in dance and fitness and completed a degree in Dance Studies at Roehampton University. I began my career in Information Risk Management and then as a Business Analyst. However, I soon realised it was having a negative effect on my mind and body. Participating in Pilates classes, I noticed a real improvement in my posture and wellbeing. Having always been interested in anatomy and body movement, I enjoyed witnessing and understanding how Pilates could help with maintaining and improving general health and alleviating injuries. With this interest, I started my Pilates training at Body Control Pilates in London and qualified in 2016. I am enthusiastic about teaching and working with different bodies, helping people to benefit from this full mind and body work out. As Joseph Pilates said, “The acquirement and enjoyment of physical well being, mental calm and spiritual peace are priceless to their possessors”.

I have a passion for knowledge and enjoy learning, so continue to undertake courses to improve my movement and body understanding, which in turn supports and enhances my teaching.

I am a member of the Body Control Pilates Association and Academy. I am also a qualified Pre and Post Natal Pilates teacher.

Emma Hutchings

I am the newest member of the team and before joining the Pilates Body Studio I worked in the City as a PA for about 17 years.

I have 2 children and I was looking at retuning to work and heard about an opportunity at Pilates Body Studio in Bexley. As it’s a local job I still get to have a great work/home life balance and no more stressful train journeys! Everyone at the studio both clients and staff are really friendly and helpful. One of our core values is customer focus – I believe it is one of the reasons our clients keep coming back as everyone is treated as an individual.

I’m pleased to be part of such a fab team and am looking forward to what the future holds for Pilates Body Studio.

Laura Currie

I have always been an active person and since finding Yoga, over 7 years ago now, teaching to share my knowledge and love is something I cherish. If I can make 1 person’s day by them leaving everything outside the studio so that they can be present in the moment, then I have fulfilled my mission.
Come and join me on a Saturday morning at 0800 for an hour.

MaySze Chang

Don’t be taken back by the look of her name. MaySze is ‘Maisy’ with the Zing, which is just like her life filling up with zings. She is a qualified Pilates instructor with Polestars on the full comprehensive equipment with a wide range of nursing background from midwifery to neonatal intensive care. With this nursing background, she is also certified in pre and postnatal Pilates. Alongside this, she is also a classical trained ballet dancer and an avid runner with 7 marathons under her belt. This zingy life came with different injuries that lead her to Pilates over 10 years ago. Through Pilates, she discovered movement is not only limited in performance but also brings healing and restoration.

MaySze constantly brings her nursing and caring side into her Pilates sessions. She is a keen listener, not only to the individuals but also to their very own bodies. She has a vast interest of body movement efficiency and the relationship between mind and movement. She believes that everyone has an amazing body with lots of potential and zings to discover and Pilates is a perfect platform to listen and explore it. She constantly finds joy and excitement when she is taking on a journey to help individuals to find their little zings in their movement and subsequently life.

I had an epiphany whilst working full-time as a teacher that exercise does not have to be a punishment!  I now see it as a tonic to help stabilise and mobilise my joints whilst strengthening my core and improving posture.   Pilates has been a sanctuary when work was stressful and helped keep me injury free.

Evangelical about its benefits, I trained to be a Body Control Pilates teacher and am currently studying Level 4 Pilates, to ensure that I can offer the best up to date research on quality movement for ALL bodies.   I enjoy researching about anatomy and physiology & making understanding this in layman’s terms accessible to all.  This love for learning has led me to train in Back4Good Lower Back Pain, Pre & Post Pregnancy, Pilates for the Older Person, Resistance Band, Over Ball and Reformer Beds.

I am passionate that exercise should be fun and help you live the best active and energetic life that you want.

Anneke Krüger

I discovered Pilates in 2004 and soon recognised the benefits in my own posture. What started as rehabilitation soon turned into my weekly fix! My strong believe in the benefits, both physical and psychological, led me to train and qualify as a teacher with Body Control Pilates®. I’m a member of the Body Control Pilates Association and the Register for Exercise Professional and am qualified to teach all levels of Matwork and Equipment.

I believe health and fitness is directly linked to happiness and for me Pilates should form part of a healthy balanced lifestyle. Pilates strengthens, energises and relaxes. I believe it is not just beneficial for preventing back pain and rehabilitation from injury, but also if you simply want to balance your cardio regime with the toning and core strength Pilates provides.

For many years before discovering Pilates I experienced chronic back pain. There was no concrete diagnosis and I resorted to Pilates as a form of treatment – it worked and I’ve been promoting the benefits ever since. Pilates have kept my body strong and pain free so I can pursue an active outdoor lifestyle. I’ve trekked in the most wonderful and remote places around the world, and have reached the summit of Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp. Pilates played a key role in my preparations.

I like to incorporate my energy and love for Pilates into my classes and love seeing clients grow strong, look better and most importantly feel better about themselves. My classes are flowing and dynamic, I like to challenge you but have compassion for any limitations you may have.

I look forward to meeting you in one of my classes soon.
